Reliability Evaluation SystemMomentary Power Failure Detection System

ED71

The ED71 is an event detector that captures momentary disconnections (instantaneous disconnections). It enables highly accurate evaluation by recording the continuity performance of connectors and solder joints without missing even a momentary anomaly.

Basic performance

  • Enables conduction reliability measurements including events (momentary breakdowns) on multiple channels
  • Detects events (momentary breakdowns) at intervals of 50 nsec at the fastest
  • Event (momentary breakdown) detection and simultaneous resistance measurement
  • Event (momentary breakdown) detection/resistance measurement range is 100mΩ to 3000Ω
  • Capable of measuring event (momentary break) width with 50 nsec resolution
  • Applied current selectable from 1mA/10mA/100mA, etc.
  • 8 to 256 channels
  • Can be interlocked with vibration machines and drop testers
  • Windows application for easy operation & data management

Product Features

High-speed sampling of 50 nsec to detect events (momentary breakdowns) without missing them

The comparator detects events (momentary breakdown) at 50 nsec sampling, writes event data to memory, and records events up to 1000 times/ch. The comparator detects both rising and falling resistance, allowing measurement of event width.

Resistance measurement as well as event (momentary breakdown)

The ED71 is capable of high-speed DC resistance measurement as well as event (momentary breakdown) detection. Resistance measurements can be made at intervals of 100 msec at the fastest. High-speed DC measurement is possible because all channels are equipped with independent measurement circuits instead of a scanner system.

Various external device interlocking functions

Combined with a thermal shock chamber, vibration tester, or drop tester, a wide variety of analyses can be performed by inputting external signals such as temperature, vibration frequency, and cycles. It is mainly used in combination with vibration machines in connectors for the automotive industry. (Event threshold: 7Ω / Event width: 1μsec or more)

High reliability of vent (momentary break) detection

The detection speed of an event (instantaneous breakdown) is greatly affected by the frequency characteristics of the power supply for application and the capacitance component of the measurement system. However, the ED71 uses an event generator manufactured in-house to evaluate event (momentary break) detection speed, taking into account the effects of the application and measurement systems, so it can be used with confidence.

operability

main screen

The main screen displays the status of each channel with a mark.

histogram

The recorded events (momentary breakdowns), resistance values, and vibration frequencies can be displayed graphically as shown in the figure below. You can see that events are occurring at specific frequencies and that they are resonating.

Progress graph

In addition to a progress graph, a histogram display is also available. The left graph shows that the resonance frequency is around 1230 Hz.
